Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable moments that you would like to share: Our cruise to the caribbean and our honeymoon in Bermuda, our special times with our dear friends, our special dinners after picking her up from work on fridays when she worked!
Do you have any other comments or thoughts : I know you create a million of these each year, my marriage has had its share of for better or worse since 1998 and I want to do something extra special for my wife on this 10th anniversary.
For Better Or For Better
I know I don't say it often enough, and
I don't share what's here, in this beating heart,
but I did want to take a few rectifying moments.
So, where on Earth, could I possibly start?
Maybe I'll begin by looking skywards,
and thanking those in the heavens above,
because I know I've been blessed to have met you,
yes, I know that I have been blessed with your love.
And I assure you, that love is so returned,
in truth, I love you with all my heart, all my soul,
for with you in my life, I feel, I am, complete, yes,
you are the one that makes me completely whole.
And I wanted to do something special for our 'tenth',
because these ten years past, have flown by in a haze,
but I know that I will look back on this time, and
yes, I'll think of them as some of our testing days.
That's not to say the future isn't looking rosy,
because it is, of that I am just so very assured,
but these last ten years, well, it's where love grew,
it's where our love blossomed, and nicely matured.
As I love you more with each and every passing day,
and the years just mark how much that love has grown,
I am so overjoyed with the family that we've created,
yes, I'm very grateful for all the love that you've shown.
Because through that love, the twins were given life,
and I can't believe that, so soon, they will be three,
but Debbie, I did just want to thank you for being you,
to thank you for making our worlds a great place to be.
But let's not forget the laughter and the tears that we've shared,
because hills and valleys make up just who we are today,
and for one moment, let us remember our lost little souls, but
let's not dwell on the past (because I have so much to say):
Because I'm just so grateful for all that you do,
truth, I'd like to thank you for all that you've done,
your love has been my inspiration, my light,
in every way, you've been like my morning sun.
And we've shared so many wonderful moments,
in truth, there are just too many to individually list,
just know that each and every one is precious,
no, there's not one that I would have missed.
We've enjoyed so many trips to the NJ shore, and
you make our family holidays extra special every year,
we've come a long way from those times at Grandma's,
and how we really met shall remain a secret, have no fear.
Remember all the laughs that we've shared? At times,
yes, all we can do is laugh, with tears running down our face,
but then again, with our home and my "Master Plan", well,
we've turned this world into a funny, exciting and dramatic place.
Like our wonderful cruise to the Caribbean,
and let's not forget Bermuda, gee, what a time!
But I also enjoyed our special Friday dinners,
Debbie, thanks for putting the reason in my rhyme.
Because you, like these words, are totally unique,
and they will never, ever, be repeated on this Earth,
and Debbie, I just wanted to say "I love you", yes,
I do appreciate your true and honest worth.
We've shared so many special times with friends,
but do you know? When we're alone, I like it the best,
because I know we've had our share of ups and downs,
for better or for worse, yes, I think we've passed that test.
So, let's make the next ten for better or for better,
yes, let's forever and a day, bask in glorious sunshine,
because to be honest, I wouldn't change a day of it,
yes, indeed, I'm very proud of that wife of mine.
And I just wanted to say "I love you", Debbie,
I've never really said just how wonderful you are,
just know that if my love for you were a distance,
well, it would reach way beyond the furthest star.
I also wanted to say Happy 10th Anniversary,
I guess that's really what these words are for,
here's to you, Debbie, you're truly wonderful,
and here's to our everlasting 'betterness', for evermore.
Scott kindly replied:
After the first draft….
Allen- thank you- I love it- I am hoping to make 1 change and a few adtns if I may?
Can we change the word morbid to something more like
"but let's not dwell on the past" (because I have so much to say):
Also- I neglected to mention the following that I;'d like to add to the poem
1) Our multiply trips to the Nj shore
2) How my wife make's family holidays extra special every year
3) The laughter we've shared - sometime we get into these moods where all we can do is laugh!
4) Our special times at Grandma's house when we were dating
5) Our own home which has been completely remodeled in and out over the past 9 years
6) The 'secret' of how we REALLY met. - {Withheld}
7) My "master plan"
Let me know- sorry for not including this earlier- when you read about your own life on paper, it tends to drum up additional memories. I must say; however, you captured the essence of my feelings and our life to date.
Let me know- thank you AGAIN Scott
After the second draft….
