Ian is a Directional Driller and works between Australia and New Zealand. We live in Calgary Alberta, where we immigrated to 11 years ago from North East Scotland. Have had 25 very happy years, and are more in love with each other than ever. He is a very romantic guy with a great sense of humour. I will leave it all up to you to come up with something appropriate.
Much Nicer Than
Ian, we've come a long way in our time,
and we've taken mostly the high road, indeed,
but I did just want to thank you for being you.
Boy! You fill this woman's every, every need.
But I do get to miss some of Scotland's finest treats,
ooh, the thought of one makes me weak at the knees,
but I guess that's why they call it a local delicacy,
no, I've searched and searched for them, overseas.
But no matter where I look, I canna' find them,
so, I just have to love you, with my heart and soul,
for with you in my life, I am complete, yes,
you are the one that makes me completely whole.
I think that is why we are more in love today,
yes, more in love than the day we were wed,
and although that line probably says it all,
there are some heartfelt words that need to be said:
Because twenty five years ago, I was obviously younger,
but if I knew then what I definitely know today,
well, I would shout "I do" from the roof tops,
so loud, they would hear it down Glasgow way.
Because we've shared so many wonderful memories,
in truth, there are just too many to individually list,
just know that each and every one is precious,
no, there's not one that I would have missed.
From Peterhead to Calgary is quite a distance,
not exactly down under, so think of the air miles,
and when I reflect on our life, our love, our children,
well, my face cracks into one of those meaningful smiles.
You see, of all the twists and turns we've coped with,
and yes, I know a directional driller has a bendy pipe,
but we have come such a long way from where we started,
and I don't want to overfill this with too much fluff, too much hype.
But Ian, I did just want to say "thank you",
thanks for our children, for our grandchildren, for our life,
just know that I couldn't love you any more, yes,
I am very proud to be known as "your wife".
We've had 25 happy years, with many to come,
and yes, I know we are more in love than ever,
I also know what we share is something precious,
as there are not many this happy being together.
But you see, they don't have what I've got,
yes, I have a very funny, yet romantic man to hold,
and you are the most important person in my life,
and that is why your story deserves to be told.
So, please feel free to do some drilling, won't you?
Yes, even after 25 years, you still hit the spot,
and do you know? You're not in bad shape at all,
yes, your wife still thinks you're pretty hot.
And I just wanted to say I love you, in truth,
I've never said just how wonderful you are,
but you're worth more than all the haggis ever made,
and you're much nicer than a deep fried Mars Bar!!
I also wanted to say Happy 25th Anniversary
I guess that's really what these words are for,
here's to you, Ian, you're truly wonderful,
Maureen kindly replied:
"Hi Allen,
