On The Beach

What is your name : Cheryl Williams

Who do you want the poem written for: Husband, Rob Williams

Why do you want the poem written: It is our 7th year anniversary, and we are about to have our first child (a son). I'd like the poem to reflect our committed relationship, starting a family, our love, and the excitement of our son's birth.

What are the key messages you would like to send: He is my best friend, soul mate, and I am still very much in-love with him. He has some wonderful qualities I know he will pass on to our son: loving, very affectionate, generous, caring, light hearted (playful), he makes me laugh (witty), optimistic, reliable, committed to family, intelligent, and a good provider. He is a wonderful man that has taught me to be more playful and light hearted and not take myself so seriously.

Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable moments that you would like to share: Our first night together:

We went to high school and swam on the same swim team together, but we really didn't know each other until years later. We reconnected over a 4th of July holiday at Danny's Pub in Coronado and have been together ever since. That night he flew in from Texas and headed straight for Danny's Pub. It was fate that I was there with some mutual friends that he joined. After playing some pool we all decided to go to the Hotel Del Coronado (a beautiful and old Hotel on the beach). It was a warm summers night, and we rode double on his bike (with me sitting on the handle bars cradled back in his arms) to the Hotel Del Coronado. There we had drinks and our first slow dance. Afterwards, we sat on the beach and talked about life (he tried to get to me to skinny dip in the ocean, but to no avail). Our conversation just flowed like we had known each other our whole lives. I had a feeling of peacefulness, ease, and security with this man. We snuggled and kissed for the first time that night too. It is hard to explain, but we had an instant connection from the beginning.

Do you have any other comments or thoughts : Since we grew up in the same home town and know a lot of the same people, we have a shared history with very similar morals and thoughts on how we are going to raise our child. I look forward to starting a family and all our future memories together.

On The Beach

Do you remember our first night, there on the beach?
We reminisced about being on the same swim team together,
little did we know that was the start of a new life,
and a bright new future, one that’ll last forever and ever.

Because now we've been married seven good years,
and I'm proud of who we are and who we've become,
and I know that you'll make a wonderful father,
because I’m already one proud wife, one proud mom.

Rob, I just wanted to say "I love you",
I want you to know how wonderful you really are,
and if my love for you were a distance,
well, it would reach beyond the furthest star.

Because we have such a committed relationship,
it's great to start a family with so much love,
and I know that we’ve been blessed to have found each other
I know that we’ve been blessed by the heavens above.

Because you are my best friend, my soul-mate,
and yes, it's true, I love you even more today,
so tomorrow, I know I will love you more,
and that one line leaves so much to say:

Because you have so many wonderful qualities,
and I know you will pass those onto our son,
masculine, but loving, affectionate, generous and caring,
Rob, I'd like to thank you for all that you've done.

You make me laugh, you're playful, witty, and yes,
optimistic, your glass is always half full,
and even though you're reliable and a good provider,
life is always fun with you, never, never dull.

You've taught me not to take life so seriously,
and you’ve also taught me how to be a better "me",
and Rob, I again, just wanted to say thank you,
you've made my world a great place to be.

And we've come a long way from that swim team,
but with you, I know I'm in the fastest lane,
and once I've got my stomach and bottom back,
well, you can ask me to go skinny dipping again.

Do you know? I'm so glad that Danny opened that pub,
because it felt so easy, so natural, there on that beach,
it seemed like we had an instant connection from the start,
and that's a lesson I think we could teach.

Because when something feels so good, so right,
well, that's when you should jump right in,
because I just can't imagine my life without you,
and to tell you that, I didn't know where to begin.

With our son, we’ll work together to face our challenges,
but I have faith because you're his father, his guide,
and maybe he was there on the beach with us that night,
so he knows he couldn't have picked better - even if he'd tried.

Hi Allen,

Thank you very much...it's perfect. I looked at the paper choices etc., and I'd like the blue paper with green ribbon. I'd also like the 3rd stanza ("Rob, I just wanted to say I love you..") put on the card. I'd like the personal message to be:

Husband, Happy 7th Anniversary! All my love, Wife.

I believe those are the only choices I need to make. You have my address. About how long will it take to receive it?
