What are the key messages you would like to send: Well, we have known each other for almost 5 years now.  We met online, which is an ongoing joke in our relationship.  Both of us had some interesting experiences with people we met from matchmaker.com, and we practically fed up with the site.  I wouldn't give him the time of day, well time on my computer of course...then all of a sudden we were chatting, then on the phone, then my computer broke and he came to my college to fix it for me. That first hug was the very moment I knew I would marry him.  It wasn't one of those hardly touching, hand patting hugs, it was a full body squeeze.  I got chills up and down my spine. We were inseparable ever since.  He sold his house, moved in with me, and made a lot of sacrifices so I could finish school and be close to my family. 4 years later we were married. Now I am making sacrifices in my life for him. I quit my job and we moved closer to his job.  We finally bought a beautiful house, and I found another job closer to our new home. I am not the easiest person to get along with, and can sometimes be unaffectionate towards Thomas, so sometimes he feels like I may not love him.  I am trying to find more ways to communicate my love for him and though a poem might be a different and interested way to do so for our first anniversary.
Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable moments that you would like to share

: Ha, our life in general is a funny story.  We found our new house while we were looking at other houses in the area. His car did not have any air conditioning, and we found this open house and decided to go in just to cool off. We ended up buying the house!

On our wedding day, when we went to light the unity candle, we lit it and it blew out. I was laughing hysterically and we hurried up and lit it up again.

For our honeymoon we went to Belize and Guatemala and climbed all of the Mayan Ruins. This was a testament of his love for me, because he wanted a relaxing vacation while I wanted a 'learning experience.'  I am very fearful of heights, yet I pushed myself to climb most of them knowing that Thomas wouldn't let anything bad happen to me.  We would get to the top, take in the amazing views, have a hug and kiss, and then I'd burst into tears at the thought of going down.  He led me hand and hand (me with my eyes closed)down each and everyone without poking fun or pretending to push me off of the pyramids. (If I were him I would have at least jokingly shoved me a few times!)

Do you have any other comments or thoughts : I think its amazing that you can write poems off of this information. I could probably write a poem of my own, but it was be all satire.  I just want him to know that I really do love him, and I know how difficult and challenging I can be. And that I cant wait to have children with him.

Thomas, Never Doubt

Thomas, I know I can at times, be unaffectionate,
and yes, I know I can be difficult to live with,
but in the almost 5 years, you've taught me so much,
you've taught how to live, how to love, how to give.

So now it's my turn to give you something right back,
because I want to share some words from the heart,
and we've come a long way from matchmaker.com,
but to explain that, where on earth shall I start?

I think I'll have to start with our very first hug,
that full body squeeze literally took my breath away,
and in that moment, I got chills up and down my spine,
and I knew that we'd be husband and wife one day.

You sold your house and moved in with me,
and along the way, you made many a sacrifice,
but husband, I just wanted to say "I'm proud of you",
I don't know of another one who's even half as nice.

That's why I'm happy to be making sacrifices of my own,
even though I don't show you my love every day,
so now I'm trying to find ways to communicate that love,
and that one line leaves so much to say:

Because our life in general is such a funny story,
and please Thomas, don't even start to scoff,
because who else would buy a house like we did?
We only decided to go in just to cool off!

On our wedding day, the candle blew itself out, and,
you had to lead me down the Mayan steps with my eyes closed,
but when I think about it, you've always led me by the hand,
and Thomas, I'm just so glad that you proposed.

Because our first married year has been wonderful,
and thank for not shoving me too many times,
as I can't wait to be a mom and bear your children, and,
they'll make the Mayan steps seem like one of the easier climbs.

But in the meantime, Thomas never doubt that I love you,
in truth, I've never really said just how wonderful you are,
but if my love for you were a distance,
well, it would be further than the furthest star.

I also wanted to say "Happy First Anniversary",
I guess that's really what these words are for,
here's to you, Thomas, you're truly wonderful,
and here's to our everlasting love, for evermore.

"Dear Allen-
I just wanted to let you know that my husband LOVED
your poem.  He was soo touched, and wanted me to let
you know what a great writer he thinks you are.  He
actually browsed your website and thought about
ordering a poem for me, wouldn't that have been too
funny? Anyways, thanks again and I am recommending you
to everyone I know!
Take Care,
Michelle Spencer"
