Unique Anniversary Gift

Barbara wrote and asked for a poem for their forthcoming thirtieth wedding anniversary.

LIFELONG PARTNERS

Hello, my old friend,
Can't believe it's been thirty years,
Do you remember the laughter?
Do you remember the tears?

There were some times,
When it didn't seem worth trying,
The times when I felt all alone,
When I'd just end up crying.

But you were there for me,
And together we'd pull me through,
Thirty years of battling,
Thirty good years with you.

I look back on these years,
And yes, some were tough,
But we had our love together,
I guess that was more than enough.

We've got a lot to be thankful for,
Rick, Steve, Deborah and Darlene,
And we've seven of the finest grandkids,
The world has ever seen.

And now we work together,
See you most of every day,
I know your every mannerism,
I know your every way.

And I love you more today,
I'm proud of your wedding ring,
I would not change a day,
I would not change a thing.

So I just want to say thank you,
For choosing me as your bride,
Because we will ride into our sunset,
Lifelong partners, side by side.
