A Hug And A Kiss

What are the key messages you would like to send: she has three daughters that she has helped her whole life no matter what the sacrifice. her life has been been put on hold forever for taking care of our sick father who is also 80 yrs. she is a loving woman with incredible strength and fortitude and we cannot ever thank her enough for being there for us always.

Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable moments that you would like to share: she had twin daughters who are now 54 and she really didn't want anymore. but i surprised her and i am now 50 and my father always kidded her that it was the milkman!!!! She always has a smile on her face and is always ready for the next crisis. She 's been using the same Hair spray for years and years from when we were children-it's called AQUA NET-Also she is an AVID and LOYAL YANKEE baseball fan and she watches every single yankee baseball game there is and screams at the TV when they do something stupid and miss a ball or something. She also buys Lottery tickets every week and if you don't give her the newspaper so she can look up the numbers she'll be mad at you!!!

Do you have any other comments or thoughts : She is the greatest Italian cook and we always had these huge dinners every holiday with an eight course meal. Then everyone would sleep for awhile and then watch sports on TV and then you would have coffee and all the Italian cakes and pies at night all on one day!!!!She never follows a recipe-she always says "a little of this and a little of that and fill it about here and cook it about this much!! She grew up extremely poor in Newark, New Jersey - she had eight brothers and sisters and only her and her youngest brother are alive today. She now lives in Whiting, New Jersey in a retirement village and plays Bingo 3 times a week as her favorite pastime. Also every Saturday she must get her hair done for the week even though she hardly goes anywhere. Its a Saturday ritual and has been like that for years.

A Hug And A Kiss

Ladies and kindly gentlemen,

can I have your special attention please?

Because every now and then in life,

there is opportunity you should seize.

And I think that moment is upon us,

as 80 years ago, Mom had her birth day,

and I have got some kind thoughts on my mind,

yes, I do have some heartfelt words to say.

I'd like to begin by looking skyward,

and thanking all those in the heavens above,

as I know we've been blessed to have shared you,

I know that we have been blessed with your love.

Mom, as you all would know, has three daughters,

and she has helped us all, throughout our lives,

no matter the sacrifice, no matter,

thanks to Mom, everyone of us, thrives.

There were times when she put her life on hold,

such as now, and I know Dad needs her care,

she's a loving woman, incredible,

you can see her fortitude, standing there.

In truth, we just cannot thank her enough,

because she has been there for all of us,

and Mom has taken it all in her stride,

with total calm, the minimum of fuss.

She had twins, didn't want anymore,

but there was still a twinkle in Dad's eyes,

and five years later, along came me, I,

no not the milkman, still quite a surprise!

She cared for us all as we grew older,

and yes, look at us now, sure we have grown,

but Mom's hugs and kisses got us this far,

we are grateful for the love that was shown.

Mom has always kept that smile on her face,

crisis to crisis, you can't wipe it off,

like her hair spray, aqua net, by the way,

when we were young, that really made us cough.

Her hair is in place for the Yankee games,

yes, we have heard her scream at the TV,

and she also buys a lot of tickets,

gets mad if she cant check her lottery.

But Mom's the greatest Italian cook,

huge dinners, holidays, an 8 course meal,

then everyone would sleep watching sport,

but hold on, no matter how full you'd feel.

Because then it was coffee, cake and pies,

"a little of this, a little of that",

"fill it about here, cook it about this much",

but Mom's recipes, she's got them down pat.

And I think that's what she's done for us all,

a lot of that, it's been a lot of this,

so mother, Happy 80th Birthday,

take a bow, thank you, a hug and a kiss.
