When I was about 11/12 years old we had a poetry lesson in school.
Our homework (surprise surprise) was to write a poem.
Now I thought and thought, and what I thought was that I would like
to write something for fun. To be happy is after all the reason that God
created us. (Greed, envy etc etc screw this up for a good many people.)
Anyway - as I lay on my bed one lazy summer afternoon, with the sun shining warmly through my window, I felt at peace with myself and the world. This little thing floated into my head.

The Sun

The sun shines through my window.
The sun shines on my bed.
The sun shines up my little nose.
And brightens up my head.

And yes, I did submit it for my homework.

And yes, I did get one hell of a bollocking from the English teacher.
