Graduation Gift

Over the years, Tanya has been a very good customer. I've written several poems for her that have covered a variety of special occasions, including weddings, birthdays and graduations. I'd just finished a birthday gift for her friend and she reminded me of this one for her younger brother's graduation:

Tanya

Burning Bright

What is your name : Tanya Thompson

Who do you want the poem written for: Daniel Larson

Why do you want the poem written: Well Dan is my younger brother, born on my 11th birthday, so yes we share a birthday March 20th, Dan and I have been pretty close through the years and we got closer the day that our father died, I can remember the day that he was born I was so excited that my step-mom made me go out of the room cause I was making her nervous by talking too much, but of course I still talk too Much, Dan has grown up to be a handsome man and will be graduating from high school in may of 2006 so he is all grown up and man I feel old

What style of poem would you prefer (happy, sad, romantic etc.): Both happy and sad

Please choose which package you would prefer : Standard

Would you like a copy of the handwritten drafts : Yes

What are the key messages you would like to send: how dan has grown up and how proud that I'm of him, That there is that certain special person watching him walk across the stage today and he will know who I'm talking about I hope its our father.

Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable moments that you would like to share: I remember when he said my sister Audra's name for the first time, The year deer hunting that he showed up his sister with his buck and all I got was a little doe

Do you have any other comments or thoughts : Just tell him to follow his dreams and never quit dreaming

Burning Bright

Dan, you've always been my younger brother,
of course, you were born on my eleventh birth day,
and because my heart is so full of love for you,
well, that one line leaves so much to say:

I remember the day that you were born,
I was so excited, trembling to the touch,
our mom made me go out of the room,
I was making her nervous by talking too much!!!

Of course, to this day, I still like to talk,
I think I'll start a chat show, not a bad plan,
but seriously Dan, I wanted to say I love you,
yes, you've grown into such a handsome man.

But there is one problem with your growing up,
and I know you'll have many stories to be told,
but I always thought of you as being younger,
now you're a man, well, that makes me feel old!!

I guess we've been pretty close through the years,
we became even closer on the day that Dad died,
we held onto each other through those dark days,
we wiped away each other's tears when we cried.

But now you're grown and you make me very proud,
from boy to man, you've finally, proudly come of age,
and I know that we're not alone, yes, we've got company,
you won't be alone when you walk across that stage.

Because there'll be a certain, special person watching,
yes, he'll also be proudly watching, from the heavens above,
and I'm sure that he'll also have a proud tear in his eye,
just watch, I bet at that moment, I bet we both feel his love.

I know that he'd be proud of the person you've become,
yes, we all know just how wonderful you are,
just know that if our love for you a distance,
well, it would reach beyond the furthest star.

And beyond those stars are where dreams are made,
so go outside and look to them, shining tonight,
because there, you will see the constellation of Dad's love,
and your future dreams will be there, burning bright.

Footnote: Tanya got back in touch in August to order another poem.

While completing that request she kindly said:

"By the way you did a poem for my brother in May for his graduation you can put it on your site, he loved it, and was crying the whole time that he was reading it there is something about these poems that you do that is just wonderful its like they are jumping right out at ya all I have to say is that you do awesome work!!!!!"

and then Daniel got in touch...

"Mr. Allen Jesson,

My name is Daniel Larson. Tanya Thompson's little brother. You wrote a poem for her about me for my graduation and well I want to say thank you. I love it very much. I have it hanging on my dorm room wall here in Kansas. Thanks again your writing is magnificent.
