Philly's Shoe, Missing You
I guess sometimes life just isn't
fair,
otherwise it would last forever,
you'd also be by my side
and we'd spend our first
anniversary together.
Sometimes life doesn't always work
out,
exactly as you'd planned,
sometimes it's hard to figure out
why,
sometimes it's hard to understand.
Now I think of you over there
and mere distance may keep us
apart,
just know that I love you very much
and you are always in my heart.
Your son misses you too,
I guess that should come as no
surprise,
but whenever I need to see your
face,
I just look into his bright,
smiling eyes.
Do you know you have made me so
happy?
I couldn't have picked better -
even if I'd tried
and I hate the thought of you being
at war,
there are nights where I've just
cried and cried.
But I know a soldiers' duty is a
big one
and if you had the choice, you'd be
here with me,
together we'd camp and drive
through the country,
together, we'd find our better
place to be.
My heart aches so, I get lonely and
scared,
I can't sleep at night without you
in the bed,
every phone call from you is so
precious,
because you are walking where many
fear to tread.
Our son misses your voice too,
every time he hears you, you should
see his smile,
he loves it when I say Dada to him,
(and I may say that more than just
once in a while).
I remember when we went camping
and we awoke to a mattress with no
air,
we'd slept the night on a hard
floor,
another magical moment I'm glad we
shared.
How free and happy we were
together,
I would do anything to have that
time again,
of course, this time we'll take our
son with us
and I'll keep dreaming of that
time, sometime when.
We plan to go away when you get
back
and that's a promise you're bound
to keep,
I'll even get the mattress
repaired,
at least that way, we'll get a good
nights sleep.
But seriously, the night we met on
the Internet
and then spent the next nine hours
on the phone,
I knew then that you were the one
for me,
I knew then that I'd never be
alone.
So, hurry home safely my darling,
I'm missing the mess you always
make,
I'm missing your little compliments
and you know that flattery is all
it ever takes.
So, hurry home safely my darling
and please don't forget little
Philly's shoe,

and if you haven't guessed it by
