OPTION: SKIP REQUEST AND GO STRAIGHT TO POEM
Hi my name is ----- and it is my bestest friend in the world 18th
Birthday on the 30th of this Month and I want to give her a poem, not from me but from her life - if that makes sense. She has done so much, been through so much and taken so little and I want something to say thank you and to make her feel special.

I'll tell you a bit about her:

In the last few years she has hurt so much, her family moved countries and sent her to boarding school. Although she knew they still loved her she became very insecure, thinking she had been abandoned in a way and was alone. She went into hospital with an ovarian cyst and suffered a lot of pain.

She then won a riding scholarship to the best equine college in Europe and went there, she made some great friends and was one of the best friends it was possible to have. One day however (Dec 16th 1998) she was knocked over, she suffered a fractured skull, blood clot on the brain, perforated ear drum, and a fractured ankle. Since then she has pins put in her ankle and still suffers a lot of pain from that and can't forget about the accident as that is a constant reminder.

She lost her memory and couldn't even remember her parents let alone me, but she tried so hard. She lost many friends cause she couldn't remember things, became irritable, changed in personality cause she couldn't remember who she was.

She soldiered on through and renewed her friends with the friends still there and she had to start from the beginning of her friendships as she couldn't remember how close they were.

She had to quit doing her A-levels and leave the college as she couldn't
remember the work she had done but looking back at her reports she realised she was a straight A Student and having to quit was hard for her.

She is now doing A National Diploma in equine studies and business
management. She has to constantly work hard to even get near the grades she used to get. But she keeps on trying even after all her set backs.

Through all of this she kept her horse and works so hard to give it all that she can. When --- puts pen to paper the words that come out are beautiful and she makes everyone feel special and think so much of themselves. She writes poems for us and there is not one of her friends who could make words sound so deep as hers do. I just want a heartfelt poem to say how much of a true friend she is.

She doesn't trust people or confide in them anymore as she is now so
insecure she doesn't think she is worthy of anyone friendship, even though she gives us more than we could ever give her.

She is beautiful but thinks she is ugly and fat, she'll always get the guy
she wants but she never tries and she doesn't think she stands a chance. She lets blokes walk all over her, as she thinks that is part and parcel of
being her, she thinks she deserves it.

She makes us smile and is always there for us. She shares all of our tears and our laughter. She keeps her turmoils to herself but she shares a bit with me cause I was there before the accident and after and I will never leave her side.

She is 18 in a week and has so much to offer the world and I want her to
know that her family/friends everyone that knows her loves her. She is a
special person - you'll meet someone like her once in a lifetime and she
doesn't realise how special she is.

She is my best friend and I hurt every time she hurts and boy has she hurt a lot the last few years! I want her, for one moment at least to understand how special she is, how beautiful she is and how much I care.

I love that girl and would do anything for her!!

All of her friends are chipping together for this poem for her birthday.

Please can you let me know by e-mail about the poem and please help make the bestest friend it is possible to have feel special and loved

thanks a lot

For A Friend

Your pain and your suffering,
must be part of a greater plan,
or maybe it's just life's way,
of teaching you what it can.

And it does work in mysterious ways,
I've seen it happen before,
that's why crippled people walk,
and why rich men become poor.

And oft without rhyme nor reason,
life can take its unexpected turns,
but that's where seeds of greatness grow,
and a candle of hope steadily burns.

With all that you've gone through,
I guess you've lost a little trust,
but please, trust in your dreams,
because ash is to ashes, dust is to dust.

And when you write your words,
they take our breath away,
there is so much to be said,
and you know just what to say.

You are so very special,
this you need to know,
just open up your heart,
and let your feelings show.

Because you've done your hard yards,
they couldn't have been any rougher,
and just when you were tough and got going,
the going just seemed to get tougher.

But you are a winner,
very special in every way,
just know that we love you dearly,
and now there's nothing left to say.

"Thank you so much for the poem it was beautiful.  Of course you can publish the poem but I would very much appreciate it if you could change the names as I doubt (well I
know) that --- would like her private life broadcasted. I am sorry if this
is an inconvenience but please respect my wishes. I have given your e-mail
address to --- as I believe she would like to contact you I hope this is ok.

thank you once again for your time and trouble, the poem was a master piece,
it brought tears to our eyes so I think it had the effect we had desired.

thank you so much,"
