I would like you to write a poem about me and my ex-boyfriend. My name is Ashley, I'm 15 with curly brown hair, 5'6, and 110 pounds. My ex-boyfriend is black...I'm white. He's 18 and very well-built. My parents didn't approve of him, so we snuck around to see each other. I have never loved anyone as much as I loved him. My parents found out about us several times. The last time, she caught me climbing in my window. It was raining and very cold outside. It broke my heart to see my parents in so much pain from this, but I loved him so much and I just couldn't figure out why they wouldn't accept us being together. He and I loved each other so much and it hurts me inside to know that I can't be with him. Please write a poem about us. Thank you so much. Ashley

Martin Luther

"I have a dream",
said Martin Luther King.
He hoped his children wouldn't be judged,
by the colour of their skin.

And that is a wonderful vision,
the way it ought to be,
but some people are blind,
and they will never ever see.

And then there are the sighted,
but who only see with just one eye,
they can't see it any other way,
and they won't even try.

So must we have a few more generations,
another hundred unjust years ?
Buckets of racial hatred,
gallons of frustrated tears.

No ! Let us not accept racism,
our silence is way too loud,
let us heed the words of Martin,
and let us all make him proud.
