To A Mother

A poem to my wife on Mother's Day

Haven’t got time to go to the shops,

(if I did, you’d only give it away) !

So it’s time for one of those “dreadful” poems,

to send my love on this your Mother’s Day.

I just wanted you to know,

How incredibly proud of you I am,

You are the strength in this marriage,

Without you, my life would be a sham.

You’ve borne me four beautiful children,

A gift from the Gods above,

They are the magic of life personified,

They are a wonderful vision of my love.

For 36 (very) long months,

You’ve carried them safely within,

You’ve given them such a great start,

But there’s more…where do I begin?

You feed them, guide them,

Clothe them, and oh so much more,

You give them your Mother’s love,

A love that is everlasting for evermore.

Because you look out for them,

On every, every single day,

You’re one of the best mothers in the world,

What more is there left to say?

Apart from: I love you now more than ever,

And I sincerely hope that we never part,

Because you have cemented my love,

You have simply encapsulated my heart.
