I spend a lot of time with my children but there have been times in my life when I've misplaced my priorities and have been just plain selfish.

This poem was written from my (then) eight year olds perspective.

Song For Boy

When I'm bored,
With nothing to do,
I just sit around,
And wait for you.

I phone my mates,
Say "Can you come around ?"
"No I'm busy "
Is such a lonely sound.

Now I'm stuck with you Dad,
You're such a boring chap,
I remember a time,
When it wasn't quite like that.

What happened to you Dad ?
You were such a good mate,
Did you get too busy
Moving all that freight ?

I've got so much to do,
I've got so much to say,
And no it won't Dad,
It won't do for another day.

You made me so excited,
When you promised a bike ride,
And it nearly broke my heart,
To find out that you'd lied.

I know you get tired,
From working so darn hard,
But I only want to kick a ball,
With you, in our back yard.

But when you give me a hug,
Your feelings are no longer hid,
I find out you still love me,
Of course, you always did.
