Full Name: Gloria Roberts Who do you want the poem written for?: My son Adam 17 years old born November 1, 1984 Why do you want the poem written ?: High School Graduation Key Messages: How much he is loved. How special he is. How much me and his stepfather love him. How proud of his accomplishments in graduating with having Attention Deficit Disorder. How much he helps his mom because of an injured back. That he has a whole new life waiting for him and that we want the best for him Memorable Moments: Adam won fire rookie of the year for 2001. He was abused by his real father and it took many years of court battles to finally win full custody. He thinks of his Stepfather Mike as his dad. He even refers to him as his dad. When he was little he like to sing you are my sunshine. And he is my sunshine. He's very loving, caring and helpful. He a wonderful young man. He is a volunteer fire fighter. He has so much to offer and sometimes I feel he thinks that he doesn't. He loves to go fishing with mike. They bass fish. Other Comments: I just want Adam to know how much we love him and how proud we are to have him as a son. He is the middle child. And I know that is not always easy. That his stepfather considers him a son. Style: Happy and Sad Package Type: Deluxe Last thoughts: we would like the frame and the paper to be deep ocean.
Adam, You Are My Son, Shine
You are our sunshine,
you make us happy when skies are
grey,
words that you sung so long ago,
but words that mean everything
today.
You see, you are our
sunshine,
you've been an inspirational light,
and yours has not been an easy
battle,
but you never once gave up the
fight.
I want you to know that you're very
much loved,
and we're so very proud of you,
we're proud of who you are,
and we're so very proud of what you
do.
You are special, you are unique,
when they made you they threw away
the mould,
and we're looking forward to your
future,
and to your stories, as yet
unwritten and untold.
You've got your future before you,
there'll be many rivers, as yet
uncrossed,
and your life will be made up of
choices,
(just follow your dreams, no matter
the cost).
You're such a special person,
you're generous, supportive and so
very kind,
and of all the great 17 year olds
in this world,
then there's only Adam that comes
to mind.
You're always there when you're
needed,
you're our umbrella when it starts
to rain,
you love your brothers and sisters,
and when asked to do something you
never complain.
We're so proud that you've
graduated,
your whole new life waits
expectantly ahead,
and before these lines come to an
end,
there's just one more thing that
needs to be said.
All we want is the best for you,
just know that we'll be there in
your hour of need,
and we've got every confidence in
you,
you are obviously destined to
succeed.
Because yours was a tough hand,
but you've played it well and
you've played it fair,
and when I proudly look at you,
I see a fine young man
standing there.
I'm sorry about your father,
but it takes a real man to be a
Dad,
and I'm so glad that you and Mike
are so close,
because he's the best parent any
son's ever had.
You have so much to offer,
just don't let your doubts make you
frown,
look your future right in the eye,
(and always look up, never look
down).
And we know it's not always that
easy,
but the tougher the climb, the
better the view,
just know that we're proud to have
you as a son,
and please son, shine on, keep on
shining through.
