(Here's a good example of what can be achieved. Dierdre had been through a tough time and wanted to say thank you to her therapist, Jeri.  Dierdre has kindly given her permission for her poem and story to be published)

Just Like A Mom

What is your name: Dierdre

Who do you want the poem written for: Her name is Jeri.  She (funny enough) is  my therapist who helped me through the rough times I told you about with the poem for Kylene

Why do you want the poem written: I owe the largest part of who I am today to her.  She met me when my life was in a million pieces and slowly she helped put me back together again.  She built back up my self esteem, taught me that what happened to me in the past was NOT my fault.  That life is good and worth living.  She has continually coached me in how to raise my daughters. .just like a mother would.  When I met Jeri she was and still is so warm.  She looked like I remember my mother looking...same hair, build etc.  She would always give me a hug when our sessions were done.  Since moving out to the east coast, away from her, she still talks to me and helps me in anyway that I need.  With my wedding only weeks away, I have been reflecting on where I came from and where I am headed.  If it were not for Jeri, my life would be nowhere as wonderful as it is now.  She is an amazing, unselfish woman.  During my wedding ceremony, she is going to represent my mother in lighting the unity candle.  I couldn't have thought of a more fitting person.  She has given advice like a mom, even when it was hard to listen to, she has sat with me as I cried over things I didn't understand, all the while helping me to grow.  As a person, a woman, a mother...showing me that I am a good person and that I am doing a great job with my girls and that although a hurtful past, I am a survivor (of sorts) and that in itself is worth being proud of.  We met for business purposes if you will, but somewhere in it all, we became more than that.  I see her as a mother figure.. she has that warmth that a mother has.  It helps to fill that void that I have felt for so long.  It's less lonely knowing that she is just a phone call or email away!

What are the key messages you would like to send: Thank you for putting me back together again...thank you for showing me that I am worthy...thank you for being a source of warmth and compassion...thank you for teaching me things about life I had never known before...thank you for helping me put the past behind me so that I could look to the future with an open mind and heart.  And of course, thank you for being a part of my wedding day.  If it wasn't for her, I would have let this day (my wedding) walk right past me.  (thinking that I was not worth this love)

Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable moments that you would like to share: Nothing stands out...but on the funny side of things, she can see just how she works in people by how I turned out!!  (that could be good OR bad...depending on how I'm looked at!!) :)

What style of poem would you prefer (happy, sad, romantic etc.): thankful...I want this to touch her to tears...

Please choose which package you would prefer : Standard

Would you like a copy of the handwritten drafts: Yes

Do you have any last comments or thoughts: I have paid for this already...I need these as soon as you can get them to me.  No later than the 3rd week of April.  This poem goes along with Kylene's.

(This was Dierdre's FREE Standard Package, one of the bonuses with the Deluxe package. ED xx)

Just Like A Mom

When we first met, I was a jigsaw puzzle,
I was in a million pieces at the time,
and slowly, you helped to put "me" back together,
you helped me to the find the reason in the rhyme.

Jeri, I just wanted to say "thank you very much",
the largest part of who I am today is down to you,
just know that I'm very proud of who you are,
and yes, I'm very proud of what you do.

You built my self esteem right back up,
and you taught me that I couldn't change the past,
you also taught me that the past was not my fault,
and needless to say, those lessons are going to last.

You taught me life is good and worth the living,
you coached me in parental skills, just like a mother would,
and ever since I've met you, you've given off such warmth,
it seems that your very soul emanates only solid good.

You looked like how I remembered my mother looking,
and I mean that in only the very nicest way,
you'd always give me a hug when our sessions were done,
and you always knew just exactly what to say.

You have given me advice just like a mom,
even when listening to that advice was quite hard,
you sat with me as I cried over things I didn't understand,
you appreciated that I'd become quite battle scarred.

But all the time you were carefully nurturing me,
and yes, it was that care that enabled me to grow,
I grew as a person, as a woman, as a mother,
and to be honest, there was so much I needed to know.

Because you showed me that I am a good person,
and I was doing a great job with the girls after all,
and it's because of you I walk so much taller,
in fact, I feel as if I'm about ten feet tall.

And now I'm proud to be a survivor,
what hasn't killed me has only made me strong,
and thanks to you, I've found my true potential,
but of course, you always saw that in me, all along.

We met for business purposes (if you will),
but somewhere in it all, we became much more than that,
and you've helped to fill the void I've felt for so long,
and I think you're a genius (don't argue, it's a matter of fact).

And since I've moved East, you still talk to me,
in fact, you still give me all the help that I need,
and recently, I've reflected on my past and my to be's,
and I've realized you've been a true friend, indeed.

If it were not for you, my life would not be this wonderful,
and I would not feel so completely whole,
Jeri, you're such an amazing, unselfish woman,
I wanted to thank you from the heart, my very soul.

I couldn't think of a finer person to light the unity candle,
because Jeri, you've made my world a great place to be,
and actually, you've been more than a mother figure,
Jeri, truly, you've been just like a mom to me.

Dierdre kindly replied:

"Allen, this poem is awesome!  You are very talented with words.  A gift to many people who have something to say but don't know how.  I am sure that some time in the future, I will be calling upon your services again!  Thank you, thank you, thank you..   Dierdre"
