A Unique Wedding Gift

A great idea for every wedding, A Gift of Poetry

(Here's a good example of what can be achieved. I actually wrote this one a few month's back but I didn't want to publish it before the wedding. This is a sad but inspirational tale. Tanya wanted to say something at her sister's wedding, especially as they'd lost their Dads and they obviously weren't going to be there (or so they thought :o). Tanya has kindly given her permission for her poem and story to be published)

Why do you want the poem written: They are getting married July 30th 2005 and Audra and I lost our Step-dad and Dad 5 years ago I got married July 12, 2003 and I just don't know how to tell them that I wish That they could have been there for you and me

What are the key messages you would like to send: Audra has 2 sons and Dave has one son Audra's Tj and Brady and Dave's is Will, Its hard for me on this, I'm clueless LOL

Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable moments that you would like to share: Just our dads being gone, How audra is not only my sister but my best friend.

Do you have any other comments or thoughts: Let them know to never go to bed mad at each other

But Nobody Can

Hello, Audra and Dave, can you hear us?

Can you hear us there on planet Earth?

Because we just wanted to say "we love you",

as we do know your true and honest worth.

Look, we've missed yours and Tanya's weddings,

but we had no choice, God works in mysterious ways,

and we're sorry, we're not there in person,

especially on this, the most special of days.

But we're still so excited for the pair of you,

because you do make such a remarkable team,

so go on, don't worry about us, we're okay,

go ahead and live out that matrimonial dream.

Look Audra, we were always very close,

and we'll always be with you, wherever you go,

just know that we're very proud of you,

but there's a few other things that you should know:

Audra, throughout our lives, we've always been proud of you,

so now it's strange to be here, in the heavens above,

just know that we do miss you so very much,

and we know that for eternity, we'll always have your love.

Honestly, it's not too bad up here at all,

even though we didn't get to see yours or Tanya's dress,

and although we really do wish we could be there with you,

we want to wish you both a lifetime of happiness.

So, now it'll be Dave, Audra, TJ, Brady and Will,

and to be honest, that's a really great start,

as we know you'll all make a wonderful family,

as you'll now be joined forever, heart to heart.

Never go to bed when you're mad with each other,

always settle your differences before the days have their end,

and by the way, Tanya says that she's very happy for you both,

(you're more than a sister, Audra, you're her very best friend).

Actually, this poem was from her too,

and she helped us to put it all together,

just know that we're all very proud of you,

and that our love and pride will last forever and ever.

Tanya says she's glad to be gaining a nephew and brother in law,

and she's glad that you two found one another,

because Audra and Tanya have always been very close,

and now Audra's found her soul-mate, her lifetime lover.

We also know what we once had and have now lost,

but we guess that's another story that needs to be told,

just know that we're very happy for you, we love you very much,

and guess what? There are indeed paves of gold.

So, we're practicing our dance steps on them,

please order a beer and a Korbel and Coke if you're at the bar,

just know that if our love for you were a distance,

then it would be further than the furthest star.

We're sorry that some of the tears today are for us,

as you know, our departures were way before the wedding plan,

and we never thought we'd miss anyone this much,

if only we could turn the clocks back (but nobody can).

So, we guess the only choice is to keep looking forward,

to keep looking forward to what married life has in store,

Dave, Audra, just know that you have our love today,

and that you'll always have that love, for evermore.

As I mentioned, I wrote this one a couple of months back. This is the lovely feedback I received on August 31st 2005:

"Hello I don't know if you remember me but you did a poem for me for my sisters wedding, it's called But Nobody Can. You are more than welcome to put it on your web site, I also want to tell you that my sister and her husband loved it among everyone that was there that night at the wedding, I had a little trouble reading it cause I couldn't stop crying!!! There wasn't a dry eye in the crowd when I got done, be looking for me again cause my little brother graduates next year and he is very special to me cause he was born on my Birthday, once again allen thanks a million for making my sisters day, to hear from my fathers from the heavens above!!
