A Wedding Gift To Remember (Here's a good example of what can be achieved. Amy was getting married and her mother, Marlene, wanted to say something special after dinner. Marlene has kindly given her permission for her poem and story to be published)
In My Daughter's Eyes
What is your name: Marlene Goldberg
Why do you want the
poem written: As my gift to her on her wedding day. I want to read it to
her at the reception. I am hoping, Allen, that the final paragraph of the poem
can be the last verse of the song I am going to dedicate to her. It is Martina
McBride's "In My Daughter's Eyes." The last verse is:
Please choose which package you would prefer : Ribbon
In My Daughter's Eyes
Amy, I wanted you to know that
I'm proud of you,
truly, throughout my life, you've
been my shining star,
and you've grown up to be a
lovely young lady,
Amy, do you know just how
wonderful you really are?
I also want you to know how happy
I am,
you've chosen a fine husband, so
welcome Shane,
and I'm looking forward to
having you as my son,
it's nice being a new mother, all
over again.
Amy has been always been my best
friend,
she's helped me through the most
difficult times in my life,
she has grown to be thoughtful,
respectful, generous and caring,
and Shane, I know she'll make you
a wonderful wife.
I felt very honored to walk you
down the aisle,
and sadly, I know it's also time
for me to let you go,
but that doesn't mean that we'll
forget our past,
and there's a few other things
that you should know:
Because this is just a new and
exciting chapter,
and I know that we'll remain the
very best of friends,
and I'm sure we'll still get to
Rocky Neck State Park,
as you know, that's where we
shared many beautiful weekends.
I remember and miss our bike
rides at dawn,
and our wonderful long walks
along the sand,
and Shane, Amy can build a
terrific campfire,
and she'll always give you an ear
that will understand.
Because she's always got along
with everyone,
she never judges and sees the
absolute good in all,
and she also loves the outdoors
as much as I do,
so get
out there and share every waterfall.
I hope you enjoy your long talks
around the camp fire,
certainly, I hope you enjoy them
as much as I have done,
and just know that my door is
always open,
because one day, I hope you'll
return to the Florida sun.
But you've come a long way from
Price Chopper,
maybe
one day you'll work again in a Disney theme,
but in the meantime, just go out
and enjoy yourselves,
whatever you do, make sure that
you live your dream.
And I didn't really know how
to finish this speech,
but I guess this should come as
no surprise,
but I think the following words
say it all:
it is from Martina McBride's "In
My Daughter's Eyes."
In my daughter's eyes, I can see
the future.
A reflection of who I am, and what will be. Though she'll grow and someday leave, maybe raise a family. When I'm gone I hope you'll see, how happy she made me. For I'll be there-- In my daughter's eyes.

After the first draft, Marlene kindly replied:
"Hi Allen--The poem is beautiful. Now if I can just read it to her at the wedding reception without crying too much. I have only made a few changes. Thank you. Marlene" and once we'd tidied up the second draft: "Hi! If it is not too long, please use the words from "In My Daughter's Eyes" as the key verse. If it is too long, you may use: I'd like to begin by looking skywards, And thanking God in the heavens above. I know I have been blessed to have shared you, Amy, I know I have been blessed with your love. I would like the beach at sunset paper, or if it is not available, the sunset would be fine. Please use the light blue ribbon. It matches the color of her bridesmaids gowns. Her wedding is Cinderella themed. My personal message is: Amy--today you and Shane will be married. I am the luckiest mother on earth--not only for having a daughter like you, but to have Shane as my son-in-law. All my love, Mom I would be honored, Allen, to see this poem on your website. Please do use it, and you need not change a thing. Thank you again for this beautiful poem. God has given you a precious gift. Marlene" and after the wedding...
