What is your name?
Cherie
Who do you want the poem written for? Gregg Briefly, why do you want the poem written? Marriage Ceremony
Which type of
package would you prefer? Uniquely Written
What are the key
messages you would like to send? How I know I can trust him with all my
confidences and feelings How much I love him for the values he has for God and
family I have the deepest respect for his opinions
I find comfort in his whistle - he can whistle anything and in tune! When we are together it feels like home. How proud I am to hear him sing with his beautiful tenor voice That I will always cherish and love him - (His first wife had an affair and it took Gregg a long time to completely trust me - also his son Luke has Muscular Dystrophy and will have a difficult time in a few more years) I don't want Luke's disease mentioned in the poem, but the idea that I will be Gregg's strength and support when he needs me. And yes, I love the magic of his touch. The brush of his hand against my cheek, a glance or a smile across the room.
Do you have any
funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable moments that you would
like to share?
I have a knack for saying things a bit mixed up and we laugh often over it - The church icing lot is very parky, or You make my wees kneak. We like to kayak and bike. We have ridden our bikes across Iowa on a ride called Ragbrai. When we were kayaking I was able to steal his paddle when he wasn't looking and pushed his boat out to the middle of the lake. He laughed so hard. I ended up swimming out to him with the paddle. I love to hear him laugh. We both sing in the church choir - He's a tenor and I sing alto. We sit in opposite choir lofts during the service. We have a signal that says I love you by lightly tugging on a ear lobe. I am a flutist. Sometimes I have played in church alone or with the flute choir. He always tells me how beautiful I sound and he especially like the low tones and sexy vibrato. We have played the Lord's Prayer together - I love standing next to him making music together. We have both lost jobs and found new jobs. Gregg gave me a card when I lost my job. He won't in it Love ain't nothing if your not there in the hard times. Now's a hard time and I'll be here for you. Lean on me when you're not strong. We have words and stories that we can only tell each other. When we were first dating, Gregg and I made First United Church of Christ in Quakertown, PA (or First UCC) our church. Since we were both 49 at the time (3 years ago) some people thought we were married. Gregg would say she's not my wife, she's my girlfriend. Gregg sang a solo with the choir during the service. Afterward, one of the members said, 'Gregg you have such a lovely.. but before she could finish Gregg said "She's not my wife - she's my girlfriend". The lady said," I was going to tell you that you have a lovely voice!" We got engaged at a bookstore called "Lion Around Books". Gregg had made a book cover that said "Gregg Loves Cherie" on the spine. The cover reads "Cherie, will you Marry Me?" It took me quite awhile to find the book that he had the owner 'plant', even with hints and encouragement. He also had a beautiful three diamond ring for me. A larger stone with two smaller stones on each side. I like to think of it as Gregg and I and God in the center. There is a Bible verse that says Three strands cannot be broken. Do you have any other comments or thoughts We are getting married this June. He has four boys - Travis 22, Shane 18, Luke and Grant (twins 16). I have a daughter Heather, who has a baby girl Sianna (2 months old) and a son Matt 19. He cares and loves my children as I do his. They don't need new mother or new father at this stage in their lives, but another person to love them - to show them a loving home.

Do you have any last
comments or thoughts The first time we met he was wearing a worn
leather jacket and brown hat. He brought me flowers. I have saved almost all
the petals from the many bouquets he's given me. Some for special occasions,
but more often just to say I love you. The sweetest flower he ever gave me
was one he picked quickly from his garden before I had to leave. Now, I get
to spend most weekends with him and we usually see each other on Wednesday
nights. We are both looking forward to the time when I wake up and I don't
need to say Good bye. I'm already home.
Strands
There is a Bible verse that says: “Three strands cannot be broken”, and I think they’re wise words indeed, if not the wisest words ever spoken.
Because when I look at my beautiful ring, I count diamonds, one, two, three, and I know in my heart what that means, they represent you, God and me.
And we’re blessed with such wonderful children, I’m sure they were all conceived in heaven, and if we were to count our blessings, with Sianna, they would number seven.
So today, I’m feeling so very lucky, in truth, I’ve never been so happy in all my life, because I’m about to marry the man I love, at last, no more “good-byes”, I’m going to be your wife.
And no more “she’s not my wife – she’s my girlfriend”, but I’d still like us to be friends for ever more, and I just wanted to say I’m proud of you, I guess that’s really what these words are for.
I know I can trust you with those feelings, because my confidences you’ve never shared, and I’ve never known a man so good, so whole, I’ve never known one who truly cared.
I do love you so, so very much, and your values for God and family, I have the deepest respect for your opinions, and it’s so nice when you listen to me.
I find comfort in your whistling, I know you're near, happy (and always in tune), and you really mean the Universe to me, more than the earth, the stars, sun and the moon.
When we are together it feels like home, and I know my heart has found it’s resting place, and all I see is kindness, a pure soul, whenever I look into your incredible face.
I know we have things that we can only tell each other, but I wanted you to know that I love you very much, I love the brush of your hand against my cheek, and yes, I love the magic of your touch.
You gave me a card when I lost my job, (and this is one of those meaningful rhymes), because you wrote: “Love ain’t nothing”, “Love ain't nothing if you’re not there in the hard times”.
So this is my solemn promise to you, I’ll be faithful forever, I’ll never break your trust, and when the going gets tough, this tough will get going, I’ll be with you all the way, ashes to ashes, dust to dust.
I will cherish you and love you forever, and these are words I know He understands, because He knows the strength of our love, and He knows about those unbreakable strands.

"Allen, you have written the words my heart wanted to say but didn't know how.
You are truly gifted. There are only a couple of places where I'd like to
see if we could agree on a change. I see my words and feelings coming through
your pen. I don't want to make any changes that make you uncomfortable. The
poem belongs to both of us.
The other line that I'm not quite comfortable
with is
all I see is white, a pure soul, So today, I’m feeling so very lucky, in truth, I’ve never been so happy in all my life, because I’m about to marry the man I love, at last, no more “good-byes”, I’m going to be your wife.
