Hi Allen
Thanks for getting back to me so quick, I want to read the poem at our wedding and I want it to be about Ali and also a bit about Jarrah and I. I would like it to be funny and I don't mind if it's a bit rude, here's a little about us: My name is Jacqui and my partner is Ali and we have a 7 year old daughter called Jarrah (prononuced jar - rah), we have been together 5 years (do the sums - Jarrah is not Al's biological child) and we met and have always lived together in Jabiru which is in Kakadu National Park. Ali's a painter and has been with his boss "Peter Painter" for 11 years and Peter is practically part of the family. I work in a admin role, Jarrah goes to school. Ali is into dirt trail motorbikes, golf and cricket, he is also known around the town as the worst Barramundi fisherman ever - if there is a cat fish in the area Ali's sure to catch it. He also comes from a Scottish family so I'm sure we can have a dig at him about that. He's also known for liking a beer or 10. He is nervous about our wedding and hopefully by the time I read the poem he will relax a bit. I would like the poem to tell him I love him and appreciate everything he's done for both of us. The Elusive Barramundi
Darling, please don't be nervous,
just sit back and relax,
because it's time I told the world,
yes, it's time that they knew the facts !
Now you know that I love you,
(or else I wouldn't be here today),
but every woman needs to be heard,
and this one is going to have her say !
Everybody that I know likes you,
(not bad for a Jock is what I've heard),
someone said you were a Barramundi fisherman,
but we both know that's so very absurd
!
I know you like a beer,
in fact, maybe one or ten,
open a beer, drink it down,
and then you start all over again !
You could have been just anything:
a policeman, The Pope or a Saint,
but you're obviously happy with your
vocation,
'cos you and Pete just love splashing paint !
You love your golf and cricket,
and of course your dirt trail motorbike,
I didn't want to mention Barramundi again,
but I also think that its Catfish that you like !
And I'm sorry that they elude you,
and that you find them so very hard to catch,
maybe you should put your fishing rod away,
and take dynamite instead (don't forget
the match).
I'm looking forward to getting old with you,
but I just need to talk some common sense;
remember the way to a woman's heart,
is unquestioning and complete obedience !
But seriously folks !
I love Ali very much, he's simply made of gold,
and I just wanted to thank him,
that's the real story that I want told.
And these words that I've spoken,
are from the heart and only in jest,
because as husbands and fathers go,
I wanted you to know that you're the best !
