Stay Misty For Me -
A poem from the Mom on her daughter's wedding day
Full Name:
Cindy Evans
Who do you want the poem written for?: My daughter, Misty Why do you want the poem written ?: Her wedding day Key Messages: How much are father and I love her and how proud we are of her. Memorable Moments: Misty use to kiss her father's feet when she was little. Her father nicked named her "rink" and still calls her this name today. One time at Christmas I bought her father a weed eater and he couldn't figure out what the present was so Misty said "Its no a weed eater daddy" thinking if she said that he would think it was something else. After this happened I (her Mother) would never let her see anything I wrapped for anyone. She used to say she was band forever from the wrapping room. We still kid her about this today. Misty was the college homecoming queen, she went to college at Tennessee Tech. University. Misty is a Christian girl and we are very glad she accepted the Lord as her savior. Other Comments: Misty father and I are divorced but we get along really well. Misty and I are very close, she is my best friend, we can tell each other anything. Misty graduated from college with bachelor's degree. Her father and I are very proud of her and we both really love her future husband, Mike. Mike is a police officer. He has a son from a previous marriage and Misty really loves them both. Style: Happy, but very emotional. I would like her father or I to read this at her reception from both of us. Package Type: Deluxe Last thoughts: Misty is very close to her father and I. Also, he is the oldest grandchild on my side of the family, so she is very special to my whole family. My entire family will be doing some part of the wedding ceremony. Misty has brown hair and big brown eyes. When she was little I kept her hair short and he father loved it this way. He tell her all the time to get it cut back like that. We kid him, because we think he thinks if she cuts her hair again she will become that little three year old again. Misty also had a very special pet when she was little a cat named "Nibbles". You don't have to name all this stuff in the poem, just whatever you think would be good.
Stay Misty For Me
Hello, my wonderful daughter,
and I say that with a great sense
of pride,
I've also got some more overdue
words to say,
and they're going to come from deep
inside:
You'll always be our little girl,
do you remember when you used to
kiss your father's feet?
You were obviously very small then,
and your sense of smell wasn't yet
complete :0)
Do you remember the Weedeater I
bought him for Christmas?
It was supposed to have been a
surprise,
you said: "It's not a Weedeater
Daddy",
you should've seen the innocent
look in your eyes.
You've filled our hearts and life
with joy,
and you made us so proud as the
college homecoming queen,
I know a father can be a little
biased,
but he said you were the prettiest
that he's ever seen.
And we're glad that you're a good
Christian girl,
and have chosen the Lord as your
guide,
just another reason you make us so
very happy,
in fact, you are our dreams
personified.
Now, I'm sorry that as parents, we
didn't stay together,
but we were like a magnet (that had
an opposite pole),
but we're still such very good
friends,
and two halves can still make a
whole.
And we're both very happy for you,
and Mike is a diamond, he'll be
your lifelong treasure,
and we're delighted to have him and
his son in our family,
in fact, it's more than delight,
it's a real pleasure.
When you were very little,
I kept your hair nice and short,
I did it to keep your father happy,
(or at least, that's what he
thought).
But the little girl in my mind,
still has that short hair today,
and your Dad thinks if you cut it
again,
then that's the way you'll stay.
But time never stands still,
and now our little Misty is fully
grown,
and we wanted you to know that
we're proud of you,
and we're grateful for all of the
love that you've shown.
You see, you really are our pride
and joy,
you've fulfilled our dreams and so
much more,
and we love you today and we'll
love you tomorrow,
in fact, we'll love you for always,
for evermore.
And now your life will change,
and that's the way it's meant to
be,
but you'll always be our little
girl,
so please, just a tiny bit, please
stay Misty for me.

"I have read over the poem and like it very much except..." (we went to a second draft but got there in the end. Ed)
