teenaged mum to her six year old son
Q1: What is your Name?
A1: Kathryn Puffer
Q2: What is your Email Address?
A2: tre1221@aol.com
Q3: Who do you want the poem written for ?
A3: I want the poem written for my 6 year old son Brian.
Q4: Why do you want the poem written ?
A4: I am getting married on September 1 and I want something special to read
to him at the ceremony. I want him to feel included and know that he is
loved very much.
Q5: What are the key messages you would like the poem to send ?
A5: 1)That my love for him will not change
2)That we are adding love to our family
3)That I have cherished our time together but I am also looking forward to
sharing our future with Paul
4)That we will be stronger for having another person in our lives
Q6: Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable
moments that you would like to share ?
A6: I had Brian when I was 16, it has been a long hard struggle to be a single
parent and finish high school and nursing school but we did. We have
always been a team and been there for each other. I've grown up right
along with him in a lot of ways.
I remember watching him sleep and thinking that I was now responsible for this
perfect little person, and I was scared that I would not be up to the task.
I worried about trying to raise a son without a father, and I now no longer
have that worry. I remember times where I was so frustrated and felt so
helpless and then he would look up at me and say I love you Mommy and all my
fears would disappear. One of my most vivid memories is of him coming up
to me while I was crying and saying its ok Mommy, I love you, its going to be
ok, and then giving me a hug. In that moment the whole world seemed
perfect.
It was so hard to let him go live with my parents for a year while I finished
nursing school. I was afraid that he wouldn't think I was a good mother
or that I was doing the wrong thing by not keeping him with me. It was
hard to not be there for first time things like his first day of school, but I
knew that he was being well taken care of and that we would be better off in
the end. When he came home I was done with school and he had grown from
the experience as well. It felt so good to have him at my graduation and
hear him say he was proud of me, because I was very proud of him as well.
Brian is a very emotionally expressive child with me. I love that he
likes to give me hugs and hold my hand. He isn't like that with anyone
else.
Q7: Do you have any other comments or thoughts ?
A7: I wouldn't trade the time that Brian and I have had together, but I look
forward to our future with Paul. There are a lot of changes going on and
its a little scary for all of us but we will all three grow together as a
family and get through this. Paul loves Brian like his own son and will
be very good influence on him. I really want Brian to feel included and
loved during our ceremony. This isn't just two people getting married
this is a family coming together.
Q8: What style of poem would you prefer ? (Happy, sad, romantic etc.)
A8: emotionally encouraging and inspirational
Q9: Which charity would you like your donation made to ?
A9: planned parenthood
Q10: Choose either the economy, standard, unique, deluxe or combo package.
A10: standard
I was sixteen when I had you,
teenaged and full of fear,
I cried myself to sleep some nights,
shed more than the odd single tear.
I was terrified of the future,
I was scared I wouldn't cope,
but the day that you came into my world,
you inspired my heart with hope.
Yes, it has been tough at times,
even though I cared so very much for you,
but our bond has been a mighty strong one,
and your unconditional love pulled me through.
We are so very close,
in fact, we grew up together,
we've survived those tough times,
we've survived our stormy weather.
And the future is so very bright,
and together we will be the one,
together we will bask in our sunshine,
together we will share our evening sun.
My love for you will not change,
in fact, we are adding love to our family,
two people can share their love with each
other,
and there's even more when there's three.
Our time together has been our time,
and going forward, it will be more so,
our love will have a new garden,
a new garden in which to grow.
Just know that you are so very special,
Brian, you are simply one of a kind,
and together we will be one big happy family,
our futures together, forever entwined.

replied:
"It is
absolutely beautiful. Thank you so much. I don't think there will
be
a dry eye in the house after hearing that. I would like it printed on
the
still water with forest back ground and yes I would like it autographed.
Once again
than you so much, it is perfect. I have no problem with
you publishing the poem on your site."
Sincerely, Kathryn
