Wedding Poem

Who do you want the poem written for: Adam's mother, my mother-in-law
Why do you want the poem written: We were recently married on Feb. 5, 2008. Everything that happened at the wedding was thanks to her, she did it all. Ever since the wedding, I have been looking for the perfect gift to express how much she is loved and appreciated. Something different that she can hold on to and cherish. I want her to feel loved and know how special she is every time she reads it.
What style of poem would you prefer (happy, sad, romantic etc.): I think a combination of happy and sentimental would be perfect to express our feelings.

What are the key messages you would like to send: Usually you are supposed to "Hate" your mother in law. Well, I am blessed because I LOVE mine. She is truly like a second mother. Always there to help, listen and give good advice but at the same time never forces her opinions onto us, allows us to make our own decisions. She is a great mother to her children and an amazing grandmother to her grandchildren. Makes me and my other sister-in-law feel like we are her own daughters. She is intelligent, warm, loving, giving and every other positive term you can think of.
Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable moments that you would like to share: While planning for the wedding, as I mentioned she did most of the work. Both myself and my husband were working full time. I am in my nature very relaxed, she is not. About 2 months before the wedding we started joking that instead of me becoming bridzilla, it was her who was becoming bridzilla. She was so nervous she wanted to make sure everything would be perfect - and indeed it was.
Do you have any other comments or thoughts : I want this poem to really touch her heart. I want it to express how we feel towards her, how much we love and appreciate her. Adam was previously married and has 2 beautiful daughters. That marriage ended REALLY BAD, to say the least. In fact, we are still dealing with it unfortunantly. His ex really hurt his mother. She genuinly thought they were friends, but she has done some nasty things. I want to put all that in the past and concentrate on our present and the beautiful future ahead for all of us.His mother is an amazing woman, it's no wonder her three sons are all so wonderful. I feel blessed to be a part of her family.
And In Life
Siona, we both really wanted to say thank you,
you've given the greatest gift of all, that of love,
and we know we've been blessed to have shared you,
we know we've been blessed by the heavens above.
So, thanks for allowing us to make our own decisions,
(except Bridzilla, who wanted her very own way),
but we know you only wanted perfection, and girl,
you achieved it! Ours was the perfect wedding day.
Siona, I was also looking for the perfect gift,
to be honest, I couldn't think what to get,
because you're more than a mother-in-law to me,
in fact, you're the nicest one I've ever met.
As I know you are supposed to hate your "mother-in-law",
that is why I've been blessed, because I LOVE mine,
and Siona, I want you to know that you're special,
and there's a lot of love in just that one line.
We also wanted to thank you for our magical wedding,
everything that happened was just thanks to you,
you did it all, you were magnificent, truly marvelous,
but you always create wonder in all that you do.
Look at Adam, for example, we both think he's simply wondrous,
and I wanted to thank you for caring for Adam on this Earth,
I also want you to know that you're very much loved,
yes, Mom, I do appreciate your true and honest worth.
Siona, you are like a second mother to me,
you're always there to lend a helping hand,
you always give unconditional good advice, and
you give an ear that will always understand.
You're a great mother to all of your children,
that's why your three boys are beautifully grown,
and you're also a truly amazing grandmother, yes,
the grandchildren blossom from all the love that you've shown.
As 'in-laws', we feel like we are your own daughters,
you're intelligent, warm, loving and so very kind,
in fact, you deserve many more positive accolades, but
thinking of you, these are just a few that spring to mind.
Because we all know that winters can be difficult,
and we also know that the past cannot be undone,
so, let us all look forward to a beautiful future,
to our many days together, basking in the summer sun.
And there is one more thing that I would like to say,
especially before these lines have their ends,
Siona, I want to be more than a daughter to you,
I Want to be one of your very best and loyalest friends.
So, in the future, whenever you need a little lift,
please read these heartfelt words again, right out loud,
because then you'll realize just what you mean to us, and
how with the wedding, and in life, you've done us proud.
