Valentine’s Day Gift | I Love You Gift

This is a lovely story, completed by the second poem, Kind Enough, written around one year after this one (as part of the Deluxe Package, you also get a FREE Standard Package). Anyway, at the time, Candie was looking for something special for her then boyfriend, Steve. I’ll let Candie take it from here…

What is your name : Candie L. Crocker

Who do you want the poem written for: My boyfriend ,I live with him and his two sons.

Why do you want the poem written: This will be our second Valentines Day together and I want something very special.

What style of poem would you prefer (happy, sad, romantic etc.): romantic please

Please choose which package you would prefer : Deluxe

Would you like a copy of the handwritten drafts : Yes

What are the key messages you would like to send: I most want him to know I love him very deeply and appreciate him more than he knows. I want him to know he is the man I have dreamed of sharing my life with since I was a little girl. I want him to know that he has helped make my life happier than it has ever been.

Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable moments that you would like to share: Our trip to Catalina Island we had our first Long Beach Iced tea. Steve ended up driving the golf cart the wrong direction on the road and we almost missed our ferry back to LA. We still laugh about it. Our first trip we took together was to Dallas, Texas and we had a wonderful evening in this little bar ( I think a blues bar) named Nates. The blues band was great, the atmosphere was fun, the food was great and we laughed and danced all night. Our last New Years Eve (2008) he bought me the most gorgeous evening gown, made reservations at the nicest hotel in town for their bash and we had a wonderful dinner, then danced and listened to one of our favorite local bands. It meant the world to me because he picked the greatest dress for me and he was very handsome in his tux. Mostly, I didn’t think we would be doing anything special for New Years Eve because he expressed the need to watch finances due to lost money in the stock market. I felt like a princess.

Our most romantic dinner, we took our second trip to Las Vegas together and he made reservations for dinner at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant in the Paris Las Vegas Hotel. He requested the best view of the Bellagio Water Fountain Show. The experience was breathtaking. The food and service was great as well. We recently purchased a new boat. We had been looking at boats for many months. When I first saw this boat it is the only one that I loved from first sight. I said “Oh my god that is the most beautiful boat I really like it.” He said sure you do it is the biggest one we have looked at and look at how much it costs. I was only saying I really liked it.  The next day he bid on it, won the bid and took a trip to Florida to get it. We have it in a slip and we sneak away often for a quiet evening getaway together there. I love it. It has become our special place. Oh by the way he named the boat “EYE CANDIE” after me. I told you he is the sweetest guy.

Do you have any other comments or thoughts : Steve is 54 and a very handsome true gentleman. He lost his first wife to cancer and has been raising their two sons alone. (He had a short bad second marriage), but I would say he has been a hard working single father. I too have had two previous marriages that unfortunatly didn’t work. I feel truly blessed to have this man and I could never begin to express in my own words how I really feel about him. My only regret is not meeting him many years ago. I would give anything to be able to go back and share all these previous years with him. He is my dream come true and I love him more than words can say.

    Dancing With Happiness

Steve, I wanted to get you something magical,
something precious, treasured, that sort of thing,
because I just wanted to thank you for being you,
to thank you for all the many joys that you bring.

I want you to know that I love you, very deeply,
in truth, more than perhaps you will ever know,
and from today, I will demonstrate that love, more,
yes, from today, I’m going to let my feelings show.

Because I really do appreciate you very much,
truth, I’d like to thank you for all that you’ve done,
because your love has been my inspiration, my light,
yes, in every way, you’ve been like my morning sun.

You are the man that I have always dreamed of,
and I’ve had that dream ever since I was a little girl,
you see, the moment we met, my Universe rearranged,
as the sails of my destiny started to majestically unfurl.

You have made my life happier than it has ever been,
no longer an island, instead, I drink Long Beach iced tea,
even though, that can mean heading in the wrong direction,
and hey! If we miss a boat or two, it was just meant to be.

I’ll never forget the first trip that we took together,
yes, when I think of Dallas, it’s always with a smile,
we had a wonderful, not so bluesy evening at Nate’s,
we laughed and danced for more than just a while.

This last New Year’s Eve was also very special,
and I’d like to thank you for that beautiful dress,
I must admit, you looked very handsome in your tux,
and I knew I was dancing with the man and happiness.

Do you know? I didn’t think we’d do anything special,
you know, what with the stock market crash and all,
but dinner was wonderful and the band was great,
yes, I felt like a princess going to her own private ball.

Just like I did watching the Bellagio Water Fountain Show,
it was breathtaking and we had more than an Eiffel that night,
but then again, I think you’ve always gone the extra yard for me,
yes, Steve, thanks for sharing your love, your magnificent light.

You’ve helped me erase the scars of my past,
and I appreciate that, more than shiny treasure,
because you have done so very much for me, for
my soul, and my gratitude simply knows no measure.

Because I love sunrises and sunsets so very much,
and I know who’ll I’ll be with when I see my very last,
but I did want to thank you for those Grand Canyon shots,
and by the way, I’m sorry that my watch was running fast!

And now Eye Candie has become our special place, and
never a finer vessel has ever sailed to any a distant port,
but then again, you are very handsome, a true gentleman,
and just for one moment, please hold that thought.

Because I know you lost your first wife tragically,
and the next, well, thank goodness for second chance,
as I too have had my share of failure and heartbreak, but
I know, when asked, you should always get up and dance.

And if you can, always dance with the one that you love,
that is why I am the luckiest girl on this planet Earth,
because I know what it feels like to dance with happiness,
yes, Steve, I do appreciate your true and honest worth.

Because I feel truly blessed to have found you,
and I could never really express what I feel inside,
my only regret is not meeting you many years ago,
but then again, that’s life, it’s the rollercoaster ride.

But every now and then that ride comes to a halt, and
it may stop at the station of happiness, if your stars align,
and then you get to dance with the man of your dreams,
in your favorite dress, thinking: “the eye candy’s all mine”.

    “Dearest Allen,

You are awesome!!  I love the poem very much. I did find one small thing, in the sentence saying I’ll never forget the first trip we took  together the word forget was left out.  Minor error. (Added. Ed.) I also, after reading the poem, thought of a couple of other things I’d like to add: Some years back due to pregnancy and weight gain and then lost I was left with very ugly scars. The scars on the outside looked terrible and caused scars on the inside from feeling ugly despite the fact that I had lost one hundred pounds and should be proud to now be in great physical shape. Right away Steve said to me that I should be able to enjoy being fit now without being ashamed of my body due to these scars. He helped me to get surgery done to remove the ugly scars and feel beautiful.  It helped my self-esteem greatly.  I don’t want to mention the surgery or weight issues.  Maybe mention something about how he helped me to erase the ugly scars of my past in multiple ways and feel beautiful. I appreciate him doing this more than anything.
Also another really funny thing we shared.  This past summer we took his boys to the Grand Canyon and Vegas for vacation.  I love sunsets and sunrises very much.  I always take pictures of them. I wanted very much to get a beautiful sunrise picture of the Grand canyon.  Our first morning he had promised to take me to do that. I was excited like a little girl who couldn’t wait. I awakened the next morning, looked at my clock and began to wake him saying,”we have to hurry it is almost time for sunrise and we will miss it”. He was very tired and didn’t want to wake up. Still like a little girl I turned over, pouted and went back to sleep.  A couple of hours later he bagan to wake me saying “hey you better get up or we will miss sunrise”. I laughed and so did he because when I tried to wake him it was around 2:30am there. I had forgotten about the time difference when I looked at my clock. He was great! We jumped up, grabbed our things and hurried to the best spot to see the sunrise over the Grand Canyon. We got the most breathtaking shots. I laugh when I think of it and smile when I realize he didn’t let me down. I got the pictures I wanted with a sleepy Steve by my side. (2 verses added. Ed.)
I must tell you I love the title of the poem. It is very appropriate for us because we love to dance and we go dancing together all the time.
I was also wondering how much more it would cost if I wanted to add some of my own photos from these moments mentioned for the video? I also love the song I don’t want to miss a thing by Aerosmith and would love to have it as music on the video.
One last thing, is there a way when this is finished that I could put it on my myspace page giving you all the credit you deserve with a link to your site? I want to share my wonderful discovery with everyone. Also I would love to allow you to publish my poem. I don’t mind you sharing everything. I am very proud to be a part of this.
Please forgive this email being so long. Thank you again for your help here. I look forward to hearing back from you.

    Sincerely,
    Candie”
