What is your name : Brenda Who do you want the poem written for: Dawn – my beautiful daughter Why do you want the poem written: She is getting married on 6th June 2008 What style of poem would you prefer (happy, sad, romantic etc.): Funny but a tear jerker at the same time! Please choose which package you would prefer : Deluxe Would you like a copy of the handwritten drafts : Yes What are the key messages you would like to send: I love her and I am very proud of her. She is my best friend (after her father!). I am very happy that she is marrying a good man. I want her to know that I am always here for her no matter how far apart we are or where her life takes her in the future. I will do all I can to support her, always. We have fun when we are together and love watching people and making fun of them! We find silliness in almost everything. We both value hard work and she always has to have a project on the go. I want her to be happy in her married life, more than anything else. Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable moments that you would like to share: I loved ‘Your Carriage Awaits’ that you wrote. I too read to my daughter at bed time and our favourite book was the series of books by Enid Blyton called Mallory Towers. I would do different voices for the different characters in the story. It was ok at first but as more characters came into the story, I kept forgetting which voice I should be doing! Dawn, Of A New Era Hello, Dawn, my beautiful daughter, You see, I love you, I am very proud of you, I want you to know that I’ll always be here for you, You see, Dawn, you’re at the dawn of a new era, But no matter how far apart in distance we are, Because we have a laugh whenever we are together, But we both appreciate and value hard work and We’ve come a long way from Mallory Towers, But you’ve always loved your animals, from cats to cockatiels, But I also think Lucky is lucky to have someone like you, Your unique thoughts and feelings meaningfully wrapped within Please click here But today, you enjoy competing, especially Dressage, A PhD in Psychology at the tender age of just 23, And who knows where that learning will take you? Jo is very lucky to have found his Aphrodite, I just want to wish you both health and happiness, Copyright Allen Jesson Brenda kindly replied after the first draft:
This is great. What my husband and I have decided is to read one verse out each. It works really well if he starts and reads the first verse! Good planning from you even if it was by accident! Now for the difficult bit for me – choosing the card etc. I need some help here. I like the Single Rose or the Satin paper for the background. Can you decide what looks best, please! The choice of card is the Hearts design. My message is (if you can fit it on):- May you always feel as close as you do this day. Lots of love OK. Let me know if you have any problems with any of these decisions or if I have left anything out. There is no rush for the finished article as we will not present the card etc to the happy couple until they return from honeymoon on 15th June. So it would be nice if I could have it for that date. Thank you for your hard work and I will be happy for you to print and use anything you want as long as you only use our first names only – no surnames. Brenda”

Letter To My Daughter On Her Wedding Day
She has always loved animals. We have had cats, a rabbit, gerbils, a hamster and 2 cockatiels in the past so going away on vacation was a nightmare trying to find homes for al the pets. She now has 2 cats of her own – Socks and Pudding (because they got him at Christmas!) She especially loves horses and looks after her friends horse called Lucky. She did have her own pony when she was younger called Tobi but sadly it died. He was ill for quite a long time before he died and I used to go and see him almost every day – I don’t think she knows that!
She enjoys entering competitions of all types! But especially with the horse and especially Dressage. But she is always entering competitions in magazines and she often wins!
She is very intelligent. She has a PhD in Psychology which she got when she was just 23. She is studying for another Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and cannot imagine a time when she will not be learning something new.
Do you have any other comments or thoughts : She is getting married in Cyprus on 6th June which is D-Day! So it will be very hot and sunny! Her husband-to-be is called Jo and is a lovely person.
I am looking forward to the future and the part I will play in her new life. At the moment it is CAT -sitting but I hope it will be BABY-sitting one day!
it’s here at last, your special day,
and I’ve got some thoughts on my mind,
yes, I do have some heartfelt words to say:
and after your father, you are my best friend,
and I want to explain what you mean to me, and
I hope to do so, before these lines have their end.
and if you’re ever in need, then I’ll do just what I can,
but I know that you’ll both be very happy together,
I am very pleased that you are marrying such a good man.
and I’m sorry to have that play on your name,
but I did want to recognize your new beginnings, so,
one day, you can look back at from whence you came.
no matter where life takes you, whether hill or dale,
just know that I’ll do all I can to support you,
whenever I’m needed, trust my love, it will not fail.
and we love making fun of people as they walk by,
but then again, we find silliness in almost everything,
to get us both smiling, we don’t really have to try.
it seems that you always have a project on the go,
but I do so want you to be happy in your marriage,
more than anything, more than you’ll probably ever know.
remember the voices that I’d do for you?
It was ok, but I kept forgetting which voice was which,
never mind, I was good at muddling through.
finding homes for all those pets made holidays a nightmare,
don’t worry, we’ll look after Socks and Pudding for you, to
inflict the same re-housing issues on you, wouldn’t be fair.
because you’ve loved horses throughout your life,
and if I can predict the future for just one moment, I know
what, one day, a certain husband will buy for his devoted wife.
it’s because you’re such a competitor and you often win!
But then again, you are just so bright, just so intelligent,
I can see you sitting there with that all knowing grin.
and now it’s your 2nd Doctorate that you patiently await,
but to be honest, I think yours will be a lifelong learning,
yes, a scholar, destined, it’s such a kindly fate.
Because certainly, you’ve achieved so much this far,
and Dawn, I just wanted to say I’m proud of you.
Do you know just how wonderful you really are?
and I think that’s all I really have to say,
because I am so looking forward to the future,
and not just cat, but baby-sitting, one day!!
I guess that’s really what these words are for,
here’s to you, Dawn and Jo, you’re truly wonderful,
and here’s to your everlasting happiness, for evermore.
