Funny 50th Birthday Poem

Hi - When you're searching for a funny 50th birthday poem, it can be very hard to find exactly the right words to fit the person whose 50th birthday it actually is. You want to make it funny, special, uplifting - right? That's where I can help. Hello, my name is Allen Jesson and I write funny gift poetry for every occasion, including funny 50th birthday poems. This is one of the more funny and inspirational fiftieth birthday ideas, so if  "past it" and "over the hill" springs to mind, then you're in the right place. After 50 years on the planet, there's a lot to write about. Everyone has their foibles, their character traits, their annoying little habits. Now, all of these (and much more) can be built into each funny 50th birthday poem.  Now, of course, as every poem is uniquely written, so every funny 50th birthday poem is different, obviously including all the funny, personal and embarrassing moments that you wish to use. To be honest, although the poems can be 'roast', I always include a 'toast', rounding off the poem with some heartfelt sentiments (because the birthday boy or girl is obviously important to you or else you wouldn't be looking for a funny 50th birthday poem to mark this important milestone, would you?). Anyway, enough of the preamble, here is an excellent example of what can be achieved:

A funny 50th birthday poem for a special sister-in-law celebrating her 50th Birthday

Q3: Who do you want the poem written for ?
A3: my sister-in-law who is turning 50.

Q4: Why do you want the poem written ?
A4: She is a special person to me and I can't be there to celebrate with her this weekend.

Q5: What are the key messages you would like the poem to send ?
A5: caring person, grown to take challenges in life, recognizes beauty in the world when taking her hiking adventures and doesn't let risk slow her down! Counting on her for support during hard times.

Q6: Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable moments that you would like to share ?
A6: Falling down a crevace during her hiking adventure. WRiting poetry about her thoughts as she climbed 14,000 feet and felt close to her mom.
Happy - 2 beautiful children who were adopted.
Embarassing - burning the pot on the stove, forgetting to turn the stove off!
Sad - losing her mother to cancer 18 years ago.
Memorable - matrimonial lawyer for over 10 years.

Q7: Do you have any other comments or thoughts ?
A7: Susan has a great sense of humor so it can be light and happy.  She enjoys life and doesn't let age stop her.  I want her to know how much she means to me and her brother, Larry.

Hike It!

I'd like to tell you a story,
I think it'll be one you like,
because it's about a special person,
and a rather special hike.

Life has plenty of valleys,
with many a mountain to climb,
sometimes its hard to find the track,
at others its hard to find the rhyme.

But you are such a wonderful person,
you've risen to the challenges in your life,
a successful career, a beautiful home,
you're a caring Mom and a loving wife.

But life doesn't always go to plan,
you can get stuck in a crevice or two,
but you've always kept calm and collected,
you've always known just what to do.

And we all miss your Mom so very much,
life can't always be a calm and placid sea,
but it's nice that you felt close to her,
when climbing (and rhyming) your poetry.

You are a genuine and caring person,
you've been there when it mattered the most,
we all know that we can rely on you,
you're like a dependable leaning post.

You've been both judge and jury,
counselled many a case over so many years,
you've waded through rivers of emotion,
and probably sailed across a lake of tears.

It must have been hard for you,
reading those lines each and every day,
and then to come home each night,
and not act out the words in the play.

And now your Fifty years are up,
that's about 17,250 days,
but you're still growing so much,
you're growing in so many exciting ways.

And you're a bit of a roamer,
everybody knows that you love to rove,
but beware that two pots and an absent mind,
usually make for a very hot and smoky stove !

And we wonder at your wandering,
off you go when the weather is fine,
wandering into a rock or two,
or wandering right across the line !

So we wanted to wish you the best,
that is what these lines are for,
just know that we love and care for you,
and wish you at least another fifty more.

And as this sentiment comes to an end,
we hope indeed that you like it,
because we have one last wish for you:
Go chase your dream, GO Hike It!
