Q6: Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable moments that you would like to share ?
A6: I was her first grandchild and girl, as she had four sons.
When I was very small I use to grab her purse and say "let's go shopping grandma". Shopping continues to be a weekly ritual that we do together. Our favorite store is "Steinmart". We once took a day trip to Los Angeles Clothing District to do heavy duty shopping.
When I was an infant she tells me constantly how she use to keep me in a clothes basket next to her bed.
She bought me a green velvet suit when I was about 10 that was my favorite outfit and her favorite too.
The past 15 years we go to happy hour and have had a bit much to drink at times and we both dance the whole night with anyone with two legs.
She is Swedish and proud of it, but makes the best spaghetti! She was married to an Italian.
She has been there for me when my mother wasn't.
She is my very best friend.

A7: She has 4 sons, 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She is the glue that holds are family together. Family is very important to her, as she was an only child.

A8: I would like this to be kind of mushy with humor

My Grandmother Dolores

My Grandmother Dolores,

is my very best friend,

and I have some special words,

that I would just like to send.

Because days, weeks, months happen,

and the time it goes so fast,

some words never get said,

and if they do they never last.

So I'm going to change all that,

change it right here and right now,

I hope the right words come along,

but I'll give it a go, anyhow.

I was her first grandchild (and girl),

so I guess I hold a special place,

and I can see it in her heartfelt actions,

I can see it etched in her beautiful face.

When I was just a little girl,

home was a clothes basket by her bed,

I remember feeling safe and warm,

sleeping happily, content and fed.

I remember my green velvet suit,

you bought me it when I was just ten,

it's always been a favourite of mine,

and it is today, as it was then.

For 15 years we've gone to "happy hour",

and "happy" hour is our "happiest" time,

we've been known to have one too many,

and then the stairs get a bit hard to climb.

I also remember as a little girl,

(and I still use these words today),

"Let's go shopping Grandma"

What more is there left to say ?

   Apart from:  

Dolores puts the grand in Grandmother,

she is such a special person to us all,

and whenever I'm with her,

I feel about ten feet tall.

She is so energetic and so beautiful,

you can see her beauty shine so bright,

she's the glue that holds this family together,

she is this family's guiding light.

And I would just like to thank her,

for everything that she's done,

and of all the Grandmothers in the world,

Dolores, you are the number one !
