got to grrrr in her ear with a hug at her mothers house july 2008 (re kindeled the spark)
married June 27 2009 ( finally got the girl of my dreams)

Do you have any other comments or thoughts: a few key notes for the poem, our grand mothers were friends in the 60’s our mothers were friends in the early 70’s. She and I met in a doorway at our friend kevins house in the late 90’s. I Asked "what a girl like her was doing at a place like this". We started a friendship. I told her that "one day i would marry her". She moved away to Louisianna , I moved on with my life. We met up again in July 2008 at her mothers house. We started our relationship again and we married on June 27th of 2009. We have never been happier. Our lives were ment to be spent together. Against all odds were found our true love once again.

A Day And Forever

You got away all those years ago,
moments lost, but forever in my heart,
and I just wanted to say "I miss you now",
but to say that, where on Earth can I start?

Maybe I should begin by looking skywards,
and thinking about the stars, we share tonight,
because when I pick out the brightest in the sky,
I can see and feel your love, my joy, my light.

And I wanted to thank you for sharing that love,
that love gets me through some of the darkest days,
now when I look back at those 12 years without you,
well, I realize I was only half alive, a heart in a haze.

But out of that lonely mist, your love shone through,
surely just as the sun melts the early morning dew,
and Dena, I want you to know that you make me proud,
and no surprises here: I’m very much in love with you.

You are the person that has made my life complete, in fact,
you’re the special someone who makes me completely whole,
for once in a lifetime, against all odds, we’re friends for life,
Dena, I love you. Yes, I love you, with all my heart and soul.

You see, I guess I’m just a straightforward soldier boy,
I’m not in this game for the noise, blood, guts and glory,
instead, I think of myself as a writer, not a fighter, so,
I think I’d like to share what is such a romantic story…

I guess, like all good tales, it starts with a chance meeting,
back in the day, our grandmothers were really good friends,
and then our mothers were friends back in the seventies,
and thankfully, that’s not quite where this story ends.

Because we first met late in the summer of ‘ninety eight,
when I asked: "What a girl like you was doing in a place like this?",
of course, we were standing in Kevin’s doorway at the time,
but still, that question eventually led to our very first kiss.

I even told you, back then, that I’d marry you one day,
but time moved on and you followed the Louisiana road,
I moved on with my life and for us, then, that was that,
but destiny had other plans, when we struck mother lode.

Actually, at your mothers, all it took was a ‘grrr’ in your ear,
and in that moment, you could feel the rekindled spark,
certainly, my Universe shifted on it’s axis, heavens moved,
your light started to replace what was a lost and lonely dark.

12 years ago, losing you could be called bad timing,
but now I am married to the girl that got away,
and I’ll never forget the moments that we’ve shared,
especially our magical, out of the fairy tale, wedding day.

That was the day I looked deep into your eyes,
and there I saw, my soul-mate staring back at me,
and Dena, I just wanted to thank you for being you,
to say thanks for making my world a great place to be.

I know I married the girl of my dreams that day,
and looking back, I know I would do it all over again,
because I know that we have never been happier and
this is how we were meant to spend, our why and when.

Against all odds we found our one true love once more,
we now know our lives were meant to be spent together,
and Dena, I just want you to know that I love you madly,
and I know, I’ll love you tomorrow, for a day and forever.

"Allen, it captured all the things that I wanted to say, the flow was great. I thank you for making this a once in a lifetime gift. How do we discuss the packaging and presentation?
